Veterans Day 2020—Honor Their Service

Let us remember that Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of the Great War (subsequently referred to as World War I). Every November 11 since, the United States, in honor of the “eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month,” has celebrated America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of our country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

Here at the MVAT Foundation, our goal is to help change the culture in our beautiful country to show how those who protect our freedoms, here and afar, are supported and recognized for their dedication to service above self. We are committed to assisting veterans, service members in transition, military spouses, and Gold Star families with their post-military career success through our Heroes Linked program and educating the public about veterans issues through our Medal of Honor program.

We built Heroes Linked because new veterans have overwhelmingly said that the biggest challenge lying ahead of them is navigating the civilian job market and building a family-supporting career. We listened, and we created a program for them.

This past Sunday, we held our first ever virtual fundraiser, “A Celebration of the American Veteran” specifically on the cusp of Veterans Day because America’s veterans are facing increased challenges in achieving post service career path success due to the pandemic. This unfortunate situation is exactly the type of challenge that our Heroes Linked program was created to surmount.

Join us today in celebrating and honoring all of those who have served the country in war or peace. Let’s thank them for all their sacrifices.
