To those who served in Afghanistan over the past 20 years…

For the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Guardians, and Marines who served in Afghanistan over the past 20 years, events this week undoubtably are taking an emotional toll. The information we see coming out of Kabul is heartbreaking on a humanitarian level. We also recognize, however, that this news might also feel incredibly disappointing professionally or personally or both given the time, energy and work our military put into the region and the populations there.

Feelings of shock, sadness, and anger are all too understandable. No one should feel that they are facing these issues or frustrations alone. We at the MVAT Foundation want to let you know that there are other veterans who want to talk with you by phone or e-chat. They are part of the team at Vets4Warriors and they’re available 24/7. Call 1-855-838-8255 or go to the Vets4Warriors website.

If things are more serious and you or a veteran you know is having suicidal thoughts, immediately call the 24/7 Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255.

In addition, our Heroes Linked platform is built for your career success and well-being and includes resources and immediate links to mental and medical health organizations often providing free services to veterans. We also encourage you to search, reach out and connect with other Heroes Linked members. You can search for fellow veterans, military spouses, or by other factors like branch of service, active duty status, or location, and have voice or video conversations through the Heroes Linked platform.

To our wonderful MVAT Foundation supporters, as much any time before, each one of us must commit to reaching out and supporting our veterans. You can do so and really make a difference by becoming an Advisor on our own Heroes Linked program.

No one has to do this alone. Let’s be better, together.
