Press Release: Los Angeles, CA, February 8, 2018– Heroes Linked, a program of the Los Angeles based Military and Veterans Appreciation Trust Foundation (MVAT Foundation), received a $25,000 grant from the American Legion Palisades Post 283 to help veterans and transitioning service members build impactful professional networks for success in the private sector.  The Heroes Linked platform connects transitioning service members with volunteer advisors to help guide, support and strengthen their post military careers.

“We are proud and honored to be supported by the members of American Legion Palisades Post 283. This grant illustrates the Post’s ongoing commitment to the community, and to the betterment of their fellow veterans in California and beyond,” said Jason Peller, director of Heroes Linked. “This grant will allow us to connect more veterans and transitioning service members with volunteer advisors. Professional networks are responsible for up to 80 percent of private sector hires in today’s job market, however veteran’s lack this key tool when they separate from the military. America’s veterans are educated, highly skilled, and have a strong desire to contribute to our national fabric. It is to assist these Americans that Heroes Linked was created.”

Heroes Linked connects people and creates opportunities to learn from one another. Based on the belief that American professionals have something significant to offer veterans – their career experiences and knowledge of the private sector job market, Heroes Linked helps transfer this knowledge through a proprietary web-enabled platform.

“Heroes Linked is an effective aid for veterans to achieve a successful transition into their post-military lives and careers,” explained Palisades Post 283 Commander Jere Romano.

Heroes Linked is provided free of charge to users through the generosity of individuals, corporations, and groups like American Legion Palisades Post 283.

Heroes Linked is a powerful tool leveraging interpersonal engagement and network building. Individuals interested in learning more about Heroes Linked and registering as an advisee or advisor can visit the program’s website at www.heroeslinked.org.
